My Ice Fishing Pics

Taken February 17, 2001 at Sebec Lake

Although I don't get ice fishing much, my husband Jim and his son, Brett, go quite often. These are the pics I took one day when I got to go with them:

It's early morning; sun isn't up yet
as Jim starts drilling holes in the
ice for our traps

This togue is a fighter
but is too short to keep

I finally get a flag!!

He's on and he's fighting hard...

The CATCH OF THE DAY!! Sorry about the camera strap being in the way...I didn't see it. Was using digital camera for the first time. Anyway the togue was 29" long and weighed 9.5 pounds

Here is a pic of Jim and Brett together

The ice is 19" thick

A bald eagle circles overhead

for a cup of coffee and
to warm his hands

The eagle lands in a nearby tree,
watching and waiting for a fresh
fish to feed on

There go a couple more

I remove the trap and grab the line

I got him, but he's only 17" and I have to release him back into the hole....oh well, I like summer fishing better anyway!

Well, that's it for my ice fishing pics. I don't usually go with them on weekends because, when it is 20 below, I would rather stay home where it is warm and cozy and play on my computer. During the week, I have my job as an excuse no to go out there on the cold lake. The men can freeze if they want to, but not ME!!
